Comparison

SecureFamilyVault vs. Everplans

Everplans is the structured "life file" workbook — guided sections, prompts, and checklists that help you write down what your family needs to know. Different shape than ours, but going after the same anxiety.

TL;DR

Everplans is a workbook. You sit down, answer a long set of structured prompts (legal, insurance, accounts, final wishes, personal messages), and end up with a "Life File" you can share with people you trust. It's been around since 2012 and has a mature UX.

SecureFamilyVault is a vault, not a workbook. We let you store assets, link them to family members and beneficiaries, generate a will template, and share read-only access — with everything encrypted on your device. Less of a guided narrative, more of a structured database.

Choose us if

You want zero-custody encryption, structured asset records with beneficiary allocations, and a free tier — and you'd rather organize a real database than fill out a workbook.

Choose them if

The structured prompts and "personal messages to my family" features are exactly what you need, and you don't mind a flat annual fee for a server-stored solution.

Honest gaps

Where Everplans is genuinely better.

  • The workbook UX. If you want guided prompts that walk you through every section of an end-of-life plan, theirs is more polished and more comprehensive than ours.
  • Personal messages feature. Their "letters to be delivered after I'm gone" feature is more developed than our letter of instruction.
  • Trigger-event access for Deputies. They have a workflow for "release this info when X happens." We have read-only sharing today; trigger-event releases are on the roadmap.
