Comparison
SecureFamilyVault vs. Trustworthy
Trustworthy is the polished, mobile-first "Family Operating System." Strong design, strong automation, strong server custody. We come at the same problem with a different architecture and a different price.
TL;DR
Trustworthy stores your family records on their servers in a form they can read. They have a polished iOS/Android app, AI-driven reminders, a "Knowledge Graph" that auto-connects people/accounts/documents, and tiered pricing from a free tier up to ~$40/mo.
SecureFamilyVault encrypts your vault on your device with keys we never see. We have a will template and beneficiary allocations they don't, and a free tier that covers most of what families actually need. We don't have native mobile apps yet (progressive web app only), and our automation is more rule-based than ML-driven.
Choose us if
You want zero-custody encryption, a real will template, and a free tier that isn't a trial — and you can live with a PWA instead of a native app.
Choose them if
You want native iOS/Android apps, ML-powered automation (Knowledge Graph), and you're comfortable with your records living on a vendor's servers.
The structural difference
Architecture & trust
| SecureFamilyVault | Trustworthy | |
|---|---|---|
| Where vault data lives | Your device (encrypted SQLite) | Their servers (AES-256 at rest) |
| End-to-end / zero-knowledge | Yes | No (server-readable) |
| Compliance certifications | Architecture-by-design — no need to certify a server we don't have | SOC 2 + HIPAA |
| Authentication | Passphrase + Secret Key (1Password model) + optional passkey | Email/password + 2FA |
| Cloud sync | Optional Google Drive — encrypted blob in your Drive | Required — their cloud |

Pricing
SecureFamilyVault
$0
Free forever. Paid storage / collaboration tiers when you outgrow OPFS or need cloud chat.
Trustworthy
$10–$40/mo
Free tier with limits. Family ($10/mo), Family+ ($25/mo), and white-glove tier (~$40/mo).
Honest gaps
Where Trustworthy is genuinely better.
- Native iOS + Android apps. We're a PWA. If "I want a real app icon on my phone home screen" matters, they win.
- ML automation. Their Knowledge Graph and AI reminders are real differentiators if you'd rather have a tool that infers connections than enter them yourself.
- SOC 2 / HIPAA badges. Their compliance certifications are a real signal for institutional users. Our argument is that we don't need those certifications because we don't store the data — but if a checkbox matters to your IT department, theirs is checked.
- Browser extension. Drag any web document into the vault from any tab. We don't have an equivalent yet.
